President Jean-Michel Aulas told the French press tonight, after the 6-1 victory over Girondins de Bordeaux, that Peter Bosz will also be the coach of Olympique Lyon next season.
,,The coach will still be with us next season. It makes no sense to say that I have committed or spoken to other managers, because we have not even thought about it,” Aulas was clear in his commentary on questions about Bosz’s future. Aulas has been the chairman since 1987 and owner of Olympique Lyon, which became champion of France seven times in a row at the beginning of the century, but only won a Coupe de France in 2012.
With the victory over Girondins de Bordeaux, which is heading for relegation to Ligue 2, they are now in eighth place in the French league. Achieving European football will therefore be a difficult task for Lyon in the last weeks of the season, because Lyon must finish in fifth place for that. The deficit on Strasbourg is now four points, but AS Monaco and RC Lens are also still looking for the ticket for the Conference League.
Olympique Lyon not only performs very changeable in the competition, but was also eliminated in the Europa League on Thursday evening. In the quarter-finals, West Ham United proved too strong on Thursday with no less than 0-3, after which criticism of Bosz increased again in France. Bosz is seen by many in the Netherlands as the suitable successor for Erik ten Hag, who is leaving for Manchester United.
Bosz was Ajax’s coach in the 2016/2017 season, with which he reached the final of the Europa League.
