New Zealander third on the world list of golf women Lydia Kon the interview after this weekend’s LPGA-Tour race has garnered praise.
Ko played consistently well throughout the weekend at the Palos Verdes Championship, but received a final round of treatment from his physiotherapist.
The sight of a physiotherapist stretching a player in the middle of a round was not quite common, so after the race, the Golf Channel reporter Jerry Foltz asked Kolta if there was any ailment that could be a problem in the future.
– I hope not. Now is the time of the month. I know women who look at this think, “I understand what you mean”. When this situation comes, my back stiffens and I’m just twisted, Ko said with a smile on his lips.
– This wasn’t the first time Chris (a physiotherapist) saw me on the go. I felt much better after that.
– Thank you, reporter Foltz said after a short break.
– I know you’re speechless, Ko replied and laughed.
The effect of menstruation on sports performance is quite rare in interviews. Kon’s interview was an exception and garnered praise.
– I loved this (interview)! I also felt like I was a noodle last week. I’m glad Lydia approached this honestly. I’m impressed with how well he played with that, a German golfer Sophia Popov wrote on Twitter.
Ko played in the final round with 70 strokes, one less than a pair. The New Zealand total score of -8 was enough instead of a split third.
Popov, on the other hand, did not survive the cut.
