Lycra introduces two new elastane fibers that improve clothing longevity

The fiber manufacturer The Lycra Company is launching two new elastane fibers: the “Lycra Adaptiv Black” fiber and the “Lycra Adaptiv Xtra Life” fiber.

Lycra Adaptiv Black was developed for long-lasting active and athleisure wear. It is intended to help reduce fiber breakage and fiber damage caused by UV rays and sunscreens as well as chafing, which negatively affect the fit, functionality and lifespan of a garment. This technology also provides a permanent, spun-in deep black color that does not fade and minimizes fiber show-through. Clothing manufacturers and brands can use this fiber to create cross-size garments that fit like a second skin and are comfortable to wear, the company says.

The Lycra Adaptiv Xtra Life fiber is a new solution for durable swim and activewear that is said to last up to ten times longer than garments with unprotected elastane. At the same time, the new fiber offers shaping and shaping, dynamic comfort and a wider fit window to adapt to different body shapes. It also makes it easier to put on and take off clothes.

“Our findings show that consumers are increasingly choosing quality over quantity when it comes to their wardrobe,” said Steve Stewart, Chief Brand and Innovation Officer at The Lycra Company. “Consumers are investing in fewer but higher quality garments that they can wear longer. The Lycra Adaptiv Black and Lycra Adaptiv Xtra Life fibers add the benefits of longevity to our most popular fiber.”

The Lycra Company, headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, develops and produces fiber and technology solutions for the clothing and hygiene industries. In addition to the Lycra brand, the company also owns the brands Coolmax, Thermolite, Elaspan, Supplex and Tactel.
