LVMH Young Talent Award: The Winners

The French luxury goods group has announced the winners of its young talent award.

The Japanese Satoshi Kuwata secured the main prize with his Setchu label, LVMH announced on Wednesday. The Magliano and Bettter brands also received the Karl Lagerfeld Prize.

Based in Milan, Setchu represents “quiet, elegant design for an active lifestyle to be enjoyed outdoors,” according to LVMH. Kuwata will receive €300,000 in prize money and one-year support from the LVMH team.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize is endowed with 150,000 euros in prize money. In addition, the winners are supported with a one-year mentoring program.

Magliano was founded in 2017 by Luca Magliano. The label from Bologna showed its first collection 2018 at the menswear fair Pitti Uomo. The brand, which gives classic menswear a modern twist, is now an integral part of Milan Men’s Fashion Week and will be showing its SS24 collection there again on June 18.

Bettter was founded in 2019 by Julie Pelipas. Before that she was active in the role of Fashion Director of Ukrainian Vogue. Pelipas works in London and uses deadstock for her collections.

The three winners prevailed against six other young brands in the final. These include Luar, Quira, Aaron Esh, Burc Akyol, Diotima and Paolina Russo. The latter just secured the Visionary Award from the Berlin online retailer Zalando.
