The French luxury goods group Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) has expanded its eyewear portfolio. On Monday, the group announced that its subsidiary Thélios had taken over the US eyewear label Barton Perreira. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The brand, founded in Los Angeles in 2007, is a “real jewel in the eyewear industry,” emphasized Thélios CEO Alessandro Zanardo in a statement on the occasion of the takeover. “We look forward to working with Barton Perreira’s talented team and leveraging our resources and knowledge to further develop the brand,” he said. The label, which is currently primarily present in the US market, will be able to use Thélios’ global sales network in the future to grow in promising markets such as Europe and Asia.
Nothing will change at the helm of Barton Perreira after the takeover. The founding duo – CEO Bill Barton and chief designer Patty Perreira – will retain their positions, LVMH said.
Thélios was founded in 2017 as a joint venture between LVMH and the Italian eyewear manufacturer Marcolin SpA to produce the eyewear collections of the fashion houses belonging to the group. At the end of 2021, the French acquired Marcolin’s 49 percent stake and integrated Thélios into the group.
The Thélios brand portfolio was recently supplemented by the takeover of the sunglasses specialist Vuarnet, and now another new addition has been added with Barton Perreira.
