LUXEMBOURG (dpa-AFX) – For the fourth month in a row, Luxembourg has clearly exceeded the EU target of reducing gas consumption by at least 15 percent. Gas consumption in November was 33 percent below the average consumption for the past five years, the Energy Ministry said on Monday. The saving was 36 percent in October, 26 percent in September and 37 percent in August.
The EU states had agreed in the summer to initially take voluntary measures to reduce gas consumption by 15 percent. If this value is not reached, the saving could become mandatory./rtt/DP/nas
