Luuk Ikink is in a state of utter confusion. The presenter of RTL Boulevard closely follows the quarrel between Arjen Lubach and the juice channels, but cannot get over it. “Is this a stunt?”
Yvonne Coldeweijer started spreading some curious gossip about Arjen Lubach in mid-August. The co-host of her podcast, Mark Koster, at one point even called for the VPRO to investigate his behaviour. Complete nonsense, the broadcaster responded. Meanwhile, rumors abound that this is no ordinary juice shop.
PR stunt by Arjen?
RTL Boulevard expert Rob Goossens expressed the suspicion three weeks ago that this was a PR stunt. “Of course it could. A new season is coming and it’s nice to see the buzz to get it going a bit, but I would say: these kinds of things, you really don’t joke about that.”
The rumor that Arjen would bring a revealing item about the juice channels in the season opener of ‘De Avondshow met Arjen Lubach’ last Monday turned out to be false. In fact: yesterday Yvonne revealed that she got Arjen’s lawyer on her roof. She has a few stories removed and now Arjen says the stocking is done for him.
Luke confused
Luuk Ikink, the radiant center of RTL Boulevard, is really confused. “I have to be honest, I’ve been thinking about this all day, about this issue, and I just don’t believe it. I still think this is some kind of big stunt,” he said in the show section last night.
Co-host Bridget Maasland: “From Arjen?”
Luke: “Yes. And it might be a bit naive, because we even spoke to Arjen Lubach’s lawyer, who by the way is the same lawyer who hired Samantha Steenwijk in her case against Yvonne.”
‘Must be a stunt’
What does that lawyer say? “We even spoke to him and he says: ‘We did indeed send a note to Yvonne Coldeweijer’, but I still have it in my head: this must be some kind of stunt.”
Bridget: “But where is it that you think it’s a stunt? Because it’s Arjen? “
Luuk: “Yes, it’s Arjen and I think he’s not just going to hire a lawyer. And it is always the same steps that are taken, which all those other people have also taken. First a bit of a photo, then a lawyer, then a bit of half denial again.”
Showy
Luke thinks there is something fishy about the case. “It just feels really flashy, but who knows, maybe it’s a real thing, I don’t know, but it feels a bit fake.”
Bridget: “I have a feeling we’re going to come back to it.”
AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken also has the idea that this is not yet a closed chapter. He wonders if Arjen will do something with it, he says in the AD Media podcast. “I am very curious if he has anything about certain…”
Angela de Jong adds: “Juice channels are going to say, surely? Yes, so am I.”
