Luuk Ikink is not that impressed by the comic talent of his broadcaster colleague Renze Klamer. He thinks that the presenter missed the mark with his minute of silence for Shell last week.
Renze Klamer wanted to showcase his socially critical side in his talk show on RTL 4 last weekend. He started the broadcast with a minute of silence for Shell, because the company has made less profit. “We hope that despite this meager profit they can still enjoy their private yacht in Ibiza a little bit,” he sneered.
Uncomfortable
Annoyingly enough for Renze, however, after that joke, the viewers mainly talked about him instead of Shell’s profiteering. A lot of people don’t like his style.
Luuk Ikink, the presenter of RTL Boulevard, is also not very enthusiastic. “I like it when you try something new and I can also imagine that you wake up in the morning and think: that’s a nice joke, I’m going to start with that, but it’s a bit uncomfortable or something,” he says in The BLVD Podcast.
Bad effect
The effect is just not that good, says Luuk. “It starts very slowly, very slowly and as a viewer you also think: what is happening now? And I don’t really understand what’s going on. You must have just received that from Shell. I like that he tries, but I find the effect a bit less.”
Co-host Rob Goossens happened to be in that Renze broadcast and is not really enthusiastic either. “I just didn’t like the joke enough to think: okay, it was different, but very funny.”
“You’re not a comedian!”
Renze better not do this anymore, says Luuk. “If you make a joke like that, it has to be rock solid and completely correct. Then you have to go full in. But of course he isn’t comedian.”
He concludes: “It’s really nice that he’s trying, but it’s not a comedy program. You quickly think: but you just made a joke and now you don’t. That’s a bit crazy.”
