Luuk Ikink does not understand son Wendy van Dijk: ‘Remarkable’

Luuk Ikink does not understand what exactly Wendy van Dijk’s son is doing. He does not want to use his parents’ wheelbarrow, but he is on television with his dad all the time.

It really doesn’t rhyme at all: Sem van Dijk shouts all the time that it is so difficult to break through as a child of well-known parents, and that he absolutely does not want to use their wheelbarrow. But that boy appears all the time everywhere with his famous daddy Xander de Buisonjé by his side. Does he actually understand what he is saying?

Self-propelled wheelbarrow

Luuk Ikink, the presenter of RTL Boulevard, finds it really hard to follow. “Yet it is remarkable, did you also think, that he says all the time that he does not use his father’s wheelbarrow,” he says in the BLVD Podcast.

Colleague Rob Goossens cynical: “Yes, I want to make.”

Luuk: “But he recorded a song by his father and he is in TV programs with his father all the time. So then that wheelbarrow, he literally sat down in it.”

Rob: “Yes, that’s right. That’s a self-propelled wheelbarrow. It won’t stop.”

“Then don’t say it!”

Luuk understands that Sem uses his parents’ celebrity to earn money himself. “Yes, look. I would have done it too, I think.”

Rob: “Well, yes, only then you won’t say: ‘I don’t want to use it.’”

Luke: “No.”

Rob: “And then you’re not going to say, ‘Oh, it’s so hard, it’s so hard.’ No, it’s not hard at all.”

Nepobaby

Sem is a fake baby, doesn’t want to be treated like a fake baby, but is now the prototype fake baby. Rob: “A fake baby is someone who actually owes his fame to the fame of his parents. Then the children arrive and at a certain point the audience thinks: how do we actually know you and what are you capable of?”

Luuk: “Once you have that wheelbarrow and you use it, then you’re already with ten for natural, because you have all the entrances, you know exactly who to go to, who to address. Sometimes you may even know people already, which of course saves a lot at the start of your career. There is no other way.”

Three streams

Luuk: “But isn’t Sem also a bit right that it might also be an obstacle for him? Because he does… So he has to… A lot of people still have the idea of: yes, but you are there because your father can sing so beautifully and has written a nice song.”

Rob: “Yes, but if you can do something, then you just show that you can really do something and then it will stop automatically. Only yes, we were watching a boy at Op1 that I thought: yes okay, if he hadn’t had that wheelbarrow, then Hou Me Vast would have had three streams on Spotify and all three were from his unknown mother. ”

Luke: “Yes, that’s true.”
