The presenter of RTL Boulevard thinks it is a shame that Angela de Jong is so quick to make her judgment these days and, according to him, this is something of recent times. Rigorous Angela
Angela is too strict these days, Luuk thinks. “A few years ago Angela de Jong wrote a column, because at that time there was a first episode of a program, and she wrote in her first paragraph: ‘Yes, it is not my habit to burn down programs after one episode, but now in this case I can’t do anything else’, etcetera.”
He continues: “I don’t really know anymore what it was about, but it has now become commonplace with her. A program comes on television and then, presto, the blunt ax goes over it. It doesn’t really matter whether it is praised or not. But an opinion is immediately given.”
Give the time
Not good, says Luuk. “That principle of: well, okay, let’s give it some time… Hotel Hollandia, for example, has of course never had time to grow. Now there was little growth, I agree, but professional television viewers also gave little time to certain programs.”
Colleague Rob Goossens partly agrees with this. “I do think that programs should be tested before they appear on TV. It’s still a huge stage. We don’t go to the Olympic Games unprepared and then say: ‘No, but if we train a little longer, we would have been able to keep up with the rest of the relay runners.’”
‘Destroy everything’
