Canadian sportswear retailer Lululemon Athletica Inc. introduced the new head of its design department on Monday.
According to the company, Jonathan Cheung has been appointed global creative director, effective immediately. In this role, he will report directly to Chief Product Officer Sun Choe and will be responsible for the company’s global creative strategy and developing guidelines for product design.
Cheung most recently worked as a consultant for well-known textile, footwear and consumer goods companies such as Gap Inc., Mattel Inc., Merrell and Pangaia as well as various start-up companies. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Design and Design Innovation at denim label Levi’s.
JJ Collier takes over design responsibility for outerwear
The Vancouver yogawear specialist also announced another new addition to its creative department. Accordingly, JJ Collier took over the position of VP Design, Outerwear. In this role, he will report directly to Cheung and lead the outerwear teams in the women’s and men’s segments.
Collier most recently headed the consulting agency Collier Brands, which he founded himself. He previously held various design leadership positions at well-known clothing brands such as Salomon, Ralph Lauren and VF Corporation.
