Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, 77, will become president of Brazil for the third time. With nearly 100 percent of the vote counted, ‘Lula’, as the left-wing Workers Party candidate is simply called, won 50.89 percent of the vote in Sunday’s second round of presidential elections. The difference with the current far-right head of state Jair Bolsonaro was small: 49.11 percent opted for his re-election. This was announced by the Brazilian Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
