The Brit Luke Sital-Singh has been living in Los Angeles for three years – you thought you could hear the new country on his last album, “A Golden State”. As there, the singer and guitarist leaves a lot of space between the instruments on “Dressing Like A Stranger”, for example on the wistful “Rather Be”, which stands on a bittersweet piano motif, with Christina Perri in a duet.
The roots-folk pop of “Can’t Get High,” “California,” and “Summer Somewhere,” on the other hand, is very concrete. Songwriter Dan Croll, also an expat, serves as co-producer. Producer icon Tchad Blake mixed the mix. Its consistent, infinitely tasteful darkness is the album’s secret star.
