The international competitions start next week in 2022. BVB will then also be in action and can be seen on RTL. TV experts Lukas Podolski will then no longer see the viewers.
For the time being, Lukas Podolski will no longer appear as a TV expert on RTL or RTL+. The broadcaster announced this in a press release on Wednesday. Podolski has to take a break as an expert until the end of the current season, “since the appointments can no longer be coordinated with his appearances with the Polish first division club Gornik Zabrze in the decisive phase of the Polish league.”
“Final phase” of BVB first leg on free TV
However, RTL has already found a replacement. Ex-Bundesliga professional Ansgar Brinkmann will take over Podolski’s job and analyze the knockout round play-offs on RTL + (pay TV) together with Anna Kraft, Robby Hunke and Arnd Zeigler.
As the broadcaster also announced, it will show RB Leipzig’s first leg against Real Sociedad live and free-to-air on RTL on February 17 (9 p.m.). Before that, the free TV broadcaster will broadcast the final phase of the game between Borussia Dortmund and Glasgow Rangers (6:45 p.m.).
The entire BVB broadcast runs on the paid streaming service RTL+. The other games are also played there. Dortmund’s second leg in Glasgow on February 24 (9 p.m.), on the other hand, should be shown in full on free TV on RTL.
