The boss of the Spanish Football Association Luis Rubiales is in the middle of the commotion again. Spanish magazine El Confidential posted embarrassing Whatsapp messages purportedly from Rubiales’ phone.

Rubiales, who also serves as the country’s head of refereeing, messaged relatives and family members on WhatsApp with sensitive opinions about La Liga clubs.

One post was from January 2020, when Real Madrid faced Sevilla.

– Let’s see if we can get rid of this intruder, Rubales wrote, referring to Seville.

The man also listed the La Liga teams he hates the most.

– In this order: Villareal, Sevilla and Valencia.

Coincidentally, the last mentioned Valencia is currently in a legal battle with Robiales. The club accuses Rubiales of the uneven distribution of prize money for the 2020 Spanish Super Cup.

At that time, Valencia qualified for the event played in Saudi Arabia as the winner of the Copa del Rey. The team eventually lost to Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Super Cup.

According to El Confidential, the Supercup was sent to Saudi Arabia by Robiales and ex-Barcelona star player Gerard Piqué by, in order to get millions out of the event for the association and the company owned by Piqué.

Other Spanish clubs received much larger sums for participating in the Super Cup. Barcelona and Real Madrid cleared up to 6.8 million euros. Valencia was left with only 800,000 euros.

Last month, Rubiales was at the center of allegations that the country’s football association had organized orgies with its union money. The case has been investigated by the Spanish anti-corruption body.
