As the airline group announced, a sales contract has been signed with SEB Kort Bank AB from Stockholm. Lufthansa expects the sale to have a positive effect on the operating margin in terms of adjusted EBIT and – in view of Airplus’ capital-intensive business model – on the return on capital employed (adjusted ROCE). Lufthansa expects the transaction to be completed in the first half of 2024.
The group is thus separating from another peripheral business area. Lufthansa said in March that Airplus would be sold as soon as market conditions permitted.
In addition to Lufthansa Airplus Servicekarten GmbH in Neu-Isenburg, the transaction includes all international subsidiaries and branches. Airplus will remain a member of the global payment network UATP even after the sale.
According to the announcement, Goldman Sachs advised Lufthansa on the transaction.
The Lufthansa share temporarily gained 1.25 percent on Wednesday via XETRA to EUR 9.38.
