In an exclusive conversation with our editors, Martens promises to pay everything back. “I would be happy if everyone could say at Christmas: ‘Wow, we did it after all’. We did not get a piece back, but more than crumbs. We really got back what we were entitled to. So he is a just person.”
Martens notes that there are also people who support him. “I was also surprised to know who those people were who this morning in large numbers wished me strength, wished me good courage and said: ‘we know you are reliable’.” He says he never intended to deceive people.
