Luc Castaignos keeps fitness up at FC Groningen

Luc Castaignos will train with the promises of FC Groningen in the coming weeks. The striker, who turns 30 this week, is without a club.

Castaignos, who was born in Schiedam, ends up in the North through Art Langeler, who took office this year as head of football development at FC Groningen. ,,Luc was looking for a place to train. We would like to offer him that by letting him participate with FC Groningen under-21. The idea is win-win. He can get 100 percent fit and the young players can learn from him,” Langeler said on his own LinkedIn page.

Castaignos was still active for OFI Crete last season. Before that, he played for Feyenoord, Inter, FC Twente, Eintracht Frankfurt and Vitesse. ,,The level of Luc Castaignos is high”, says Langeler. ,,It is very good for youth players to come into contact with that. Besides, I like these kinds of routes. Helping each other is one of the basic competencies of a good training club. We see how things are going every week.”
