With “Nobody Knows (Ladas Road)” British rapper Loyle Carner releases another foretaste of the upcoming album HUGO, which will be released on October 21st. He will also play a concert at the Reeperbahn Festival on September 21st.
In addition to “Nobody Knows (Ladas Road)”, the two singles “Georgetown” with John Agard and “Hate” have already been released in advance. According to the press release, the announced album “is aimed at his own origins, of which he did not know for a long time where their roots lie, half white, half black”. The work includes ten tracks created during the pandemic.
A tribute to Carner’s father
Parallel to the new release, the monochrome music video for “Nobody Knows (Ladas Road)” was released on September 14th, which addresses the relationship with Carner’s biological father: “‘Nobody Knows’ is a song about fatherhood, forgiveness and the gaps in between. The space between two absolutes. Everyone knows what it feels like to be someone else. These are the words I wrote when I felt this way,” the rapper said.
On September 21st, Carner will open this year’s Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, where he will play his new songs “Georgetown”, “Hate” and “Nobody Knows (Ladas Road)”.
