Löwen Frankfurt succeeds in promotion to the DEL

The Löwen Frankfurt are about to be promoted to the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

In the final of the DEL2, the Hessians celebrated the decisive fourth victory in the best-of-seven series with a 2:1 (0:0, 1:1, 1:0) at the Ravensburg Towerstars and thus as champions the sporting qualification for the jump up.

If the Frankfurters get the DEL license, they will replace the Krefeld penguins in the top German division.

The two-time champion was relegated as the bottom of the DEL main round. The Krefelders have been the first team to go down since 2006, when the Kassel Huskies were hit.

The lions, who submitted their DEL license application in February, progressed through 4-0 wins in the quarter-finals and semi-finals and ended the DEL2 play-offs undefeated. Reid McNeill (55th) made the decision in Ravensburg on Friday.
