Louise Vlaar from Alkmaar wins international hairdressing prize: “Very good feeling”

Louise Vlaar from Alkmaar has won an international hairdresser award. The judges thought a men’s hairstyle created by her was the very best. The elections for the Best Men Shot Award were held in Austin, USA, so the Alkmaar woman was unable to attend, much to her grief. But the joy is no less, she says on NH Radio.

“The ceremony was very short notice and took place all the way in America. So unfortunately I couldn’t go there. Because of the time difference, it was the middle of the night from Sunday to Monday. I tried to stay awake, but I couldn’t,” says Vlaar .

She finally heard from her friend that she had won the award: “He woke me up and said I had won. He almost screamed. It was so cool to hear. It really feels good to win,” she describes her emotions.

The perfect hairstyle

It was already clear that Vlaar is not just a hairdresser. She has already won an award in the past. What makes her good is that she looks at what her clients want to radiate. “Based on that, you can give advice based on your craftsmanship. I think that if you make a good haircut at that moment that suits the right person, you have the perfect haircut.”

The hairstyle with which Vlaar managed to convince the jury. The text continues.

Despite the well-stocked trophy cabinet, Vlaar, who works in an Alkmaar salon, remains down-to-earth: “At work I get a lot of messages from colleagues and customers. But I couldn’t have done it without my colleagues. They are my support and I can always they spar. They really take me to the next level.”

The hairdresser still has plenty of dreams for the future: “I now teach and I want to continue to do so. Preferably also internationally. In addition, I would very much like toairdresser of the year award want to win.”
