Lots of smoke from fire in mountain with scrap waste in Botlek
A fire broke out late Wednesday evening in a large mountain of scrap waste in the port area of Rotterdam. The fire on Quebecstraat in the Botlek causes so much smoke that the security services have sent an NL-Alert.
The smoke is moving towards Vlaardingen and Schiedam. People affected by the smoke are advised to close windows and doors and turn off the ventilation. At around 02.15 am, the security region reported that the fire is still not under control and that the smell of burning may still be lingering for several hours.
The fire brigade of the Haaglanden region also warns that the fire can cause odor nuisance.
