Again two goal participations
After several weeks without playing, Borussia Dortmund’s youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens impressed with four goals in the last two games. In the win against AC Milan, the 19-year-old was once again one of the top performers in the BVB team, which has often been criticized recently, as in the Bundesliga against Mönchengladbach. There was a lot of praise afterwards, and not just from coach Edin Terzic.
“It’s a special story, he’s an explosive player. Recently he kept having cramps and was very exhausted the day after the game. “But now he has developed a basis, even if it was a bit tight at the end today,” said the BVB coach, making it clear why he had relied less on his protégé in the previous weeks. “The ‘Doc’ informed us almost every hour who couldn’t, who could play for 30 or 45 minutes,” explained Terzic, referring to the illness and fitness level of his squad, for whom the game at San Siro was already the sixth of the month .
Bynoe-Gittens, who was among the 25 most valuable U19 professionals worldwide after being upgraded in Transfermarkt’s latest market value update, said after the three-pointer in Milan: “For me it was the perfect game to score here. I tried to take the shot early and the celebration was great. I believe we can go far.”

“He is always dangerous for the opponent. We know that we don’t have to support him one-on-one. It’s worth its weight in gold to have a player like that in the team and we’ll be happy if he continues like this,” said Bynoe-Gittens’ offensive partner Niclas Füllkrug, praising the English right-footer who moved from Manchester City’s youth team to Westphalia in 2020 .
Füllkrug, who benefited from an assist from the youngster last weekend in the win against Möchengladbach and helped him score a goal himself, described Bynoe-Gittens as a “very reliable player”, but also acknowledged that he still needs improvement in certain situations:
“He still has room for improvement in his decision-making. (…) I hope that we can develop it a little further. But the actions he currently has are of course very, very good. He can always hold his own in tight spaces and soon he’ll raise his head a little more every now and then and then decide whether to finish or pass – then his scorers will go completely through the roof,” said the national striker, who himself is in Milan remained scoreless.
When asked why his teammate had recently been given less consideration by Terzic, Füllkrug replied: “I think it is simply the decision to give him more playing time now. This helps players. And I believe that now was the right moment and that he was ready for it now. That’s why it was a logical conclusion for me.”
