Lots of damage after high water and freezing cold in Katwoude

Now that the water has dropped and the ice is slowly melting, the damage caused by the high water and the freezing cold is becoming increasingly clear. René Leclou from marina ‘De Zeilhoek’ in Katwoude thinks it will take until the summer before all the damage has been cleaned up.

“Scaffolding is broken, power boxes have been flooded, three trees have fallen and the sidewalks and streets are broken or impassable.” Today the harbor master walks around the site and removes planks and tries to see if power boxes are working again.

House on the Water closed

The harbor is also the access road to Het huis aan het Water. A foundation that provides shelter and support to people with cancer. The house is closed because the terrain is impassable. “It is important that people who come there can park nearby and that is why the municipality will now also help to clean the site.” Until then the house is closed.

René hopes that the marina and the house on the water will be accessible again next week.
