That reports El Comercio, a local news channel, on Thursday.
The two children of the indigenous Mura tribe had gone hunting in the Manicoré region on February 18. They lost their way and, despite more than 250 people searching the area, were never found. The search for the brothers was made more difficult by the weather conditions: it is currently the rainy season in the Amazon region.
Glauco and Gleison were found about four miles from their hometown.
‘Come get me’
By chance, the boys were found last Tuesday by Manoel Vilkem, a farmer who was cutting trees: “Come and get me”, they shouted. The children were severely weakened and injured at the time.
The chief of police of the municipality of Manicoré, Everaldo Ribeiro, tells local media: “The father of the children just didn’t believe it. He was very emotional when he saw his children again.”
The boys have been taken to hospital. There it was found that in addition to being severely weakened, they were also severely malnourished. In all likelihood, the two will make a full recovery.
