United did take the lead in the first half with a goal from Jadon Sancho. A goal by Paul Pogba just before half-time was disallowed. Shortly after the start of the second half, Southampton tied the score. Che Adams was the scorer of the goal. The visitors then increased the pressure and goalkeeper David de Gea was just able to stop Armando Broja’s shot. In the final phase, the home team tried in vain to force a goal.
