The cup final (2-1 loss) was very unfortunate for Ajax. Afterwards, trainer Erik ten Hag criticized the decisions of the arbitration and was irritated about the questions he received about Mo Ihattaren. The midfielder came in for his former club PSV just before the end.
“If you get so many downers in a row: no penalty, the 2-0 and 2-2 are rejected and a ball hits the post. Then it is just too much,” says Ten Hag at the press conference. “My team has character. They showed that today, despite all the setbacks we’ve had.”
“I know that you can sometimes not describe the powers and forces in top football. You can’t find that out either,” the Ajax coach continues. “Today was such a game that everything was against us. We play against more than eleven players and we should not have lost this game. But it will happen.”
