Also Dummett extended
Loris Karius has signed a new one-year contract with Newcastle United. The “Magpies” announced the extension of the 30-year-old goalkeeper until 2024 on Sunday, as well as that of left-back Paul Dummett (31).
Karius moved to St. James’ Park in September 2022 and has made one appearance since then: in the lost final of the EFL Cup against Manchester United (0-2). He has a chance of Champions League football with Newcastle next season – if he is called up for the squad by Eddie Howe. According to the current status, his competition in the goal of the traditional club consists of regular Nick Pope (31), veteran Martin Dúbravka (34), Karl Darlow (32) and Mark Gillespie (31). However, it is unlikely that everyone will stay until the transfer deadline in early September.
