Sweden’s Eurovisa representative Loreen visited SVT’s Lilla aktuellt. The current program is aimed at children aged 8-12.
The program was broadcast on Monday, i.e. two days after Loreen had won Melodifestivalen. Loreen was asked how she has celebrated her victory.
– I’m a little bored. I celebrated by eating pasta, I hadn’t eaten pasta in three months, Loree said according to Expressen.
The editor of the program asked why Loreen hadn’t eaten pasta in months.
– I have had to train to get in good physical shape. It’s not that easy to sing and move like I do (on stage).
Loreen’s comments have caused many to react on social media.
Caroline Engvallan author familiar with the vulnerabilities of children, criticized the program and said that children are already exposed to appearance pressures.
– I really hope that in the future middle schoolers won’t have to wonder if they can eat pasta or not, Engvall commented in the Instagram video he published.
Engvall said he loved Loreen, but in the pasta comment he made a mistake, according to Engvall.
SVT reacted quickly to the criticism and cut the pasta comment from the broadcast.
Program production manager Kajsa Gudmundsson comment the removal to Expressen. He said how the program has a young target group and food discussion is not necessarily appropriate.
– Many children who watch the program work out and eat pasta. Journalism aimed at children carries a special responsibility. The editors should have already evaluated the content when the program was broadcast for the first time.
Loreen has previously told Expressen that she recovers with a strict diet and uses a breathing mask and weight vest.
