In Loosdrecht they have to break with tradition. SLOEP Foundation sees itself forced to pull the plug on the well-known boat trip. In particular, the large turnout and misbehavior of participants played a major role in the decision to stop this event.
This means that a big line has been drawn by the boat trip, which should have taken place on Sunday 10 July. That is the clear statement from SLOEP, which stands for Cooperating Loosdrechtse Entrepreneurs in Events and Promotion.

The popular event always attracted too much crowd. “It is with great regret that we have to conclude that this event has suffered from its own success,” reads the conclusion. Precisely because of the many small boats with the people on board, the trip is no longer ‘manageable’, according to SLOEP on its own website.
In addition, the behavior of several participants was undesirable. In the reporting, the foundation talks about people who caused nuisance and flouted the rules. According to the organization, there have even been forms of aggression and threats.
good and bad
“Irresponsible situations have arisen as a result,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, the good have to suffer for the bad. In the end, they are the victims.”
Due to these incidents, interest declined and the budget for this event became increasingly difficult to get around. Now it is the case that the boat trip is no longer financially feasible.
rally
The boat trip has come to an end. Behind the scenes, the foundation is working on an event with a so-called organized form. The idea now is to hold a rally on the Loosdrechtse water. For this, participants must register in advance, so that the organization knows who is participating.
