ZaventemA samurai sword was probably also used in the brawl between rival gangs at Zaventem station. Amateur footage shows how a young man was walking around with the weapon before the fatal accident. Two youths ended up on the tracks during the tumult as an ICE train raced past. One of them did not survive, the other victim is in mortal danger.

Images show how agents put a samurai sword in the combi. The weapon was also photographed, probably as evidence.

Remarkable: the young people ended up on the middle train track. The high-speed train did not stop at the station and therefore traveled at 160 km/h.

A catering manager saw the facts happen from the square. “Thirty to forty people walked one behind the other,” it sounds. “They walked towards Spoorwegstraat, away from the station. At a certain moment the young people walked back to the station. Four of them were clearly fleeing from the group. They ran really fast. Afterwards they ended up under the train.”

François was standing at the entrance when the incident occurred. “Suddenly I saw two guys storming into the station with big guns. There was a lot of commotion and a little later police came rushing in from all corners,” it sounds.
