LOOK. Video in which Putin emphasizes that he “can never forgive” betrayal resurfaces after Prigozhin’s death | War Ukraine and Russia

An old interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin has been widely shared on social media following the death of Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (62). In the clip, Putin emphasizes that there is one thing he cannot forgive his confidants for: betrayal.

The fragment comes from an interview Putin did for a documentary in 2018. In the ten-second video, the Russian president is asked if he is able to forgive people. “Yes, but not for everything,” Putin replies. When the interviewer asks what the head of state cannot possibly forgive, he answers plainly: “betrayal”.

The video is widely shared on X, the former Twitter, and has already been viewed more than 200,000 times at the time of writing.

The boss of the notorious Wagner mercenary army, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was killed in a plane crash yesterday. It was exactly two months ago that Prigozhin staged an armed mutiny against the Russian army chief and marched towards Moscow with his Wagner troops. Putin said earlier that those responsible for the uprising “should be punished”.

There are several theories circulating about the circumstances of the incident. One is that the Russian Air Force shot down the plane on Putin’s orders. For example, there is a good chance that the president could not stomach Prigozhin’s betrayal and has therefore dealt with the Wagner boss.
