LOOK. Thousands of pilgrims want to see the body of Sister Wilhelmina, who has been dead for 4 years: “It is a miracle that she is still completely intact” | Abroad

Thousands of visitors from all over the US hope to catch a glimpse of Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster. She died in 2019 at the age of 95 and was exhumed this year. Remarkably, her body was still almost completely intact. Some speak of a miracle and that is why sister Wilhelmina will be placed in a glass case so that pilgrims can visit the body.

The nuns made the extraordinary discovery in a rural Missouri convent when they dug up Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster to move her body to another grave. It was still intact after four years underground, which is remarkable. After all, she was buried in a simple wooden coffin without any form of embalming.

Is it a miracle?

Rebecca George, an anthropologist at Western Carolina University in North Carolina, comments on the “miracle.” “Every body decomposes differently. They all have their own pace and depending on a number of variables, a lack of decomposition, even years later, is not that rare.”

According to the monastery, there is a need for a thorough investigation before they can speak of a miracle, but we will have to wait at least another year for that. Such an investigation can only start five years after someone’s death and Sister Wilhelmina has only been dead for four years.
