When you say Bellewaerde, you may immediately think of lions, the park’s mascot. But in September the last lion, Aru, died. The animal was 16 years old and had medical problems.
The park invested almost 3 million euros in the new enclosure for tigers and lions. They are still looking for new lions and lionesses in other zoos to start a breeding program.
