During question time in Parliament, Dedecker complained that the airline ASL Airlines makes “useless flights between Ostend and Liège” with an empty aircraft. The MP addressed Minister of Mobility Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo), who is working on a complete ban on domestic flights. “I can agree with you. This is too crazy for words,” laughed Gilkinet, who once again pointed out “the absurdity of such flights.”
“This is a historic day. A green person tells me right,” the independent N-VA party leader replied. But the bromance between Dedecker and Gilkinet was short-lived. During the debate, Dedecker emphasized that he is against the Ecolo minister’s proposal to restrict domestic flights. “I don’t agree with that bill. I have nothing against a passenger flight between Ostend and Deurne, for example.”
