LOOK. Russian propagandist warns on state TV that nuclear war is “inevitable” | War Ukraine and Russia

“It will happen, there is no doubt about it.” Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov (60), who has close ties to Vladimir Putin, is convinced that nuclear war is “inevitable”, but that it will not lead to the demise of humanity. He said this during a debate on a Russian state channel.

In a recent debate on Russian state television, Vladimir Solovyov (60), presenter of the program ‘Russia-1’, did not rule out nuclear war. According to the Russian propagandist, it is even “inevitable”.

He justified his position by arguing that a nuclear attack would not cause widespread casualties and destruction if it were “used against a non-nuclear nation,” perhaps foreshadowing a hint at the current invasion of Ukraine.

When Vitaly Tretyakov, a Russian journalist and dean of a TV school at Lomonosov State University, expressed a desire to ensure that nuclear war would not happen, Solovyov disagrees.

“Nuclear war is a means to an end,” says Solovyov. “It fulfills a purpose and not every nuclear war leads to destruction.”

Solovyov was referring to World War II, in which the American army carried out atomic attacks on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Tretyakov argued that this was not nuclear war in the conventional sense of the word. “Why not? Nuclear weapons have been used,” Solovyov responds.

The Russian propagandist also made it clear that nuclear weapons are indeed an option for the Russian army. “Everyone in the army is studying the use of tactical nuclear weapons,” Solovyov continues firmly. “They know and they understand how and where (it can be used, ed.).”

Not the first time

The use of nuclear weapons is something that Russian President Putin has previously threatened, which sparked outrage within NATO, but has not yet been implemented given the nuclear arsenal of the alliance’s members, including the United States.

This is also not the first time that Solovyov or other Russian propagandists have threatened nuclear war as the military situation in Ukraine becomes more dire. Last week he said that Russia would “immediately” use nuclear weapons in the event of a conflict with NATO.
