It will be warm again this week, so time for a bit of cooling off in a park or forest, by a puddle or in the swimming pool. NH Nieuws asked the regional editors for the best tips for cooling. We list them for you: from the Noordkop to ‘t Gooi.

The team in the Noordkop does not have to think twice about it. “It is always a lot cooler on Texel than on the mainland”, it sounds. There is of course plenty of beach on Texel, so a dip in the sea is no problem. That seems to the team the most cooling, but for those who want to stay on the mainland, the team also has a tip.

“Swimming pool De Rijd in Nieuwe Niedorp,” says reporter Kelly Blok. “What I like so much, if you don’t know it, you don’t see it.” The outdoor pool is a bit hidden between the trees, so there is also a lot of shade. “It’s a great place to chill out and take a dip every now and then.”

West Friesland & Alkmaar

Cooling can also be found in nature reserves. Team West Friesland tips the Vooroever in Wervershoof and the Streekbos in Bovenkarspel. “You also see a lot of boats mooring there,” says editor Ramon Besseling. “It is located in one of the most popular sailing routes through Enkhuizen, Lutjebroek, Grootebroek and the Streekbos.” He also tips the land of Vermeulen on the N307 where you can swim a bit and dry up again on the lawn.

Another tip is the De Spetter swimming pool, which recently opened with a new slide.

Team Alkmaar also knows for sure, it is a lot cooler under the trees. They recommend the Bergerbos or De Hout in Alkmaar. And the beach from Camperduin to Castricum is great for a breath of fresh air. Reporter Anne Klijnstra also has a secret tip. “If you want to go to a quiet beach, you have to go to Schoorl. Then you cycle through the Schoorl dunes and then you arrive at a slightly quieter piece of beach, you have to put in a little more effort because you can only get there by bike.”

Zaanstreek & IJmond

In Zaanstreek-Waterland, the regional team recommends renting a whisper boat in Waterland. According to them, it is nice on the water and if you are ready to cool off, you can jump right in. They also tip Warder beach. “You can enjoy a swim or eat a nice ice cream,” says reporter Mischa Korzec. “It’s a fairly quiet beach.”

There is one ultimate tip in the IJmond region, says reporter Fred Segaar. “IJmuiden beach is the widest beach in the Netherlands and there is plenty of parking space. Because it is so wide there, it is not quickly crowded. There is really a lot of space.”

Haarlem and Amsterdam

Beautiful Nel is a great place to stay in Haarlem again, says reporter Marieke Pijlman. This city beach is on the edge of the Waarderpolder. “It is quite spacious and a nice place if you live in the city and actually just want some peace and quiet around you.”

In the capital, you can enjoy the Houthavens in the Westelijk Havengebied, among other places. At the jetty you have a beautiful view over the IJ. But that’s not the only gem: “Another beautiful spot is the Silodam,” says reporter Jesler Bos. “There are picnic benches there, so you can bring your own food.”

Haarlemmermeer, Amstelveen & ‘t Gooi

Colleagues from the Haarlemmermeer tip the Haarlemmermeerse Bos, there is a beach with lots of shade due to the many trees that are there. There is also a day camping site, where you can set up your tent for a day.

In Amstelveen and the surrounding area you can cool off at the fountains in the city center. Nice for the kids if they want to play for a while. You can also enjoy the water in the Amsterdamse Bos. In Aalsmeer you can easily visit the Westeinderplassen. “You can also sail there. Many people sail there without swimming,” says reporter Celine Sulsters.

In ‘t Gooi is you can enjoy a swim at the Sijsjesberg outdoor pool in Huizen, one of the outdoor pools in the area. You can also enjoy the area by bike. “If you cycle through the Oud-Loosdrechtsedijk, you will come to the Vecht. If you then turn right, you will pass Weesp and Muiden.” In addition, the Oud-Loosdrechtsedijk is also known in the area because of the many strips where people can lie in the sun.
