Earlier this week, Batty was found in France. He is now back with his grandmother in the United Kingdom. The first images of his homecoming have emerged. Batty disappeared while on holiday in Spain as an 11-year-old boy. His mother Melanie and grandfather David then took him on holiday for supposedly two weeks, but he never returned home. His grandmother was his guardian at the time.
The boy was taken from Spain to Morocco by his mother and grandfather, where he ended up in a kind of “spiritual” community. He led a nomadic existence, never staying in one place for more than a few months.
Batty was found by a courier on Wednesday night. He was walking along the side of the road in the Pyrenees in France. Police will now speak to the teenager to find out what happened to him and determine whether a criminal investigation will be opened.
His grandfather died about six months ago. The boy’s mother is currently being sought by police.
