LOOK. Decor piece catches fire during the Raveleijn park show in Efteling
The fire brigade was called to the Dutch amusement park around 11:50 a.m. for a fire in the theater. At that time, the performance of park show Raveleijn at 11:30 was in progress. All visitors and employees were evacuated, the rest of Efteling remained accessible.
Videos of the fire are circulating on social media. It shows how the flames beat out of a set piece. That is accompanied by a lot of black smoke. Around 12.10 pm Steven van Gils, spokesman for Efteling, reported that the fire was almost under control. “We are still doing some demolition work so we can put it out properly,” he said. Just before 12.30, the fire brigade was able to officially give the signal ‘fire master’.
No one was hurt. The horses in the park, which are an important part of the Raveleijn show, also remained unharmed. Efteling is investigating the circumstances of the fire. In any case, during the show, flamethrowers are used on set pieces. Presumably something went wrong there, but what is not yet clear.
According to amusement park website Looopings, the same show was interrupted yesterday due to an incident. During the 3:30 p.m. performance, a male rider fell, hitting his head. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
It is not known whether the other shows will continue today. Efteling is still investigating what it will do.
