In an apartment building in the center of Elewijt (Zemst), the havoc is enormous after two gas explosions. A 59-year-old man was killed, two other residents were slightly injured. Aerial images show how a wall of the building is spread over the entire street, with damage to adjacent buildings and cars parked nearby. According to the public prosecutor’s office, Geert J. (59), the man who died, most likely caused the double gas explosion in his apartment himself. Police found a suicide note and four unopened gas canisters.
