On Friday, a military oath was taken in Santahamina.
A basketball star doing military service Lauri Markkanen had a celebration day on Friday when he swore a military oath in Helsinki’s Santahamina. Markkanen and the other 67 recruits of the Sports School were appointed as guardsmen.
Markkanen’s coach from the national team also participated in the traditional military oath day Lassi Tuovi. The head coach had the honor of serving as the pre-reader of the military oath.

Later, Tuovi, who was wearing a suit, went to check if Markkanen’s house was in the municipality. Based on the joint picture, Tuovi was satisfied with what he saw.
– Don’t worry, Tuovi wrote in connection with the picture he published, referring to the Vala song played on the day of the oath.
Tuovi and Markkanen could discuss the upcoming World Cup. Suomen Susijengi will start the camp at the end of July towards the World Championships, which will start on August 25. The strength of the team is expected especially from Markka, who rose to stardom in the NBA.
Finland plays in the same Okinawa group with Japan, Germany and Australia.
