A police officer in Alabama in the United States has been suspended after a violent arrest. Video footage shows how the officer punches a suspect (36) several times in the face. While the man is sitting on the ground in handcuffs. A passerby films the incident and posts the images on social media.
36-year-old Beezer Dubose Jr. was stopped by police during a traffic stop at a gas station. Marijuana was found in his car, prompting him to get out. According to the police statement, he allegedly resisted. This is followed by footage of the incident: the officer jumps on top of Beezer Dubose Jr. and hits his head and face no fewer than nine times. Dubose Jr. repeatedly calls out to passers-by to film everything.
The police have started an investigation into the incident and have suspended the officer involved. Moreover, the officer appears to be no stranger: he already has a history of violent incidents. For example, in 2019 he was involved in a shooting that killed Willie McCoy, a 20-year-old musician. And in 2020, the officer was suspended for 80 hours for standing with his shoe on a man’s head for a minute and a half.
