Alissa Barton (32) and Lara Norbury (24), two cousins from the United Kingdom, made a distasteful discovery in their rental apartment in January. Behind their television they suddenly see a mushroom coming out of the floor. Not one, but dozens of mushrooms grow in just a few weeks. The mold is so bad that it is causing the wooden floor to rise. “The owner said it was just ‘a bit cold and damp in that corner’ and I had to remove it and clean it up,” says Alissa. The two decide that they have had enough and cancel their rent of no less than 1,500 euros.
