Longer stay at FC Schalke 04? Alex Kral speaks out

Sporting director Rouven Schröder interpreted the fact that Czech national player Alex Král was lured to FC Schalke 04 on loan as a transfer coup. Now the newcomer has spoken about a possible long-term future in Gelsenkirchen.

Alex Král had probably imagined his Bundesliga debut differently: in the 3-1 defeat in Cologne on matchday 1, the 24-year-old rarely managed to put his stamp on the game.

Nevertheless, huge hopes rest on the curly head, who was loaned out from Spartak Moscow for a year without an option to buy. Král is said to help lead coach Frank Kramer’s team to staying in the league.

The defensive midfielder approaches his task with optimism. “We have a good team. Our main goal is of course to stay up, but we as a team have to do more. With the fans behind us, we can achieve more and definitely want to win the derbies against Bochum and Dortmund,” explained Král in an interview with the “WAZ“.

The fans could become a decisive bargaining chip. “The support here is extreme, I’ve never experienced that at any other club – whether at home or away,” enthused the right-footer, for whom FC Schalke is “a huge club”.

Král feels “very comfortable” at FC Schalke

Nevertheless, Král is only planning to stay with the Royal Blues for one year so far. His working paper in Moscow is valid until 2024.

“I’m on loan from Spartak for a year now and after that I still have a contract in Moscow. You never know what’s going to happen in football: are you playing well? are you playing badly? Even how the situation in Russia is developing, there’s a big one for me There are still so many unanswered questions, so I only look from training to training, from game to game,” he kept all options open.

At the same time, Král emphasized that he felt “very comfortable” at Schalke. Staying beyond the current season is anything but impossible…
