Long-term ill people will be required to renew their certificate of incapacity for work annually with their doctor. Anyone who does not do so risks losing their benefits. In addition, the duration of the first illness certificate from the doctor is limited to three weeks to ensure rapid follow-up. These are just two of the measures taken by Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit) to monitor long-term sick people and guide them to work more quickly.
