Long queue of parents waiting at Sint-Paulusinstituut: "Our friends in England don’t understand that you have to camp to register your child"

Parents camping at the school gate to get a place for their offspring in their favorite school. The phenomenon that has emerged in the cities in recent years is now spreading to rural municipalities such as Lede and Herzele. At the Sint-Paulusinstituut in Herzele on Saturday at 9 am, 70 parents were already queuing for 92 free places. “We have been here since a little after midnight, simply because we want the best for our son,” says Ielham from Bambrugge.
