The Roder Boekenmarkt hopes to earn between 20,000 and 25,000 euros this year from the sale of second-hand books. Today and tomorrow the market will again attract many visitors.
Bookworms crowd around the ‘collection building’ at Ceintuurbaan Noord 122. Although it is still half an hour before the doors of the 28th Roder Book Market open, there is already a queue that stretches around the corner. It is a familiar image between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Every year, the Roder Book Market attracts hordes of collectors and enthusiasts, who buy second-hand books, LPs, CDs, puzzles and games for next to nothing.
50,000 books, says Arie van Klei for convenience. “I say that every year, because that is about the maximum we can accommodate here,” said the chairman of the Roder Book Market. The range is even greater. “If we had the space, we could have sold 100,000 books.”
