Because of Long Covid, cyclist Daniel Schmidt ended his handball career early.
As second division team Dessau-Roßlauer HV explained, the second division club’s longest-serving player had to admit defeat to “another serious infection” at the age of 31. Schmidt had originally planned to end his career at the end of the season.
“It’s hard to accept that I can’t actively end my career and have to watch the remaining games from the sidelines,” he said: “I’m very grateful to everyone who accompanied and supported me here at DRHV 06 for twelve unforgettable years .”
