Loiri’s trusted friend says that Loiri would not have wanted a state funeral

Loiri’s long-time friend Mauri Leppänoro believes that Loiri would have wanted a down-to-earth funeral.

Today, August 17, MTV reported that Vesa-Matti for Loir no state funeral is held.

A friend who has known Loir for 20 years Mauri Leppänoro commented to Iltalehte that he doesn’t think Loir even wanted a state funeral.

– No, yes Vesku would have liked a low profile. We never discussed it, but even that helps to understand that he wanted to scatter his ashes here in Lake Inarinjärvi. He wanted to be down-to-earth, says Leppänoro.

Leppänoro says that Loiri had already chosen the right spot in the lake in advance.

– He said that he had caught the first fish of Inarinjärvi from those places, so he wanted to respect the lake in a different way.

Leppänoro does not know if the funeral arrangements have progressed yet. He has promised to be there if the ashes are scattered in Lake Inarinjärvi.

Leppänoro from Ivalo and Loiri spent a lot of time fishing together. The friendship was also maintained in other ways – Leppänoro also visited Loiri several times in Thailand and Loiri participated in Leppänoro’s wedding, where she also wanted to perform.

Leppänoro last saw Loir in May.

– We went through trips. It was kind of a farewell trip. We cried and remembered. We even had cognacs in between, Leppänoro laughs.
