The lock gates themselves are more than a quarter of a century old, but the hinges on which they turn are 50 years old. Due to wear, the water level in the Mercator dock could no longer be kept optimally high. The new lock doors are made in the Netherlands and should be operational by February. Until then, all shipping in the Mercator dock is impossible.
